Bolton Symphony Orchestra welcomes opportunities to work in partnership
with other organisations.
This section of the site presents some of the key features and
benefits of association with the BSO organisation.
|
A thriving, vibrant concern
BSO is a successful non-profit-making arts organisation. The key
factors to its success are:
- High artistic standards
- Dynamic artistic direction
- Excellent networking with like-minded organisations
- Sound financial management
- Strong management control
Exciting programming and engaging world class soloists all cost
money as do the other major running costs of music hire and venues
for rehearsals. The orchestral members pay an annual fee to play
and the orchestra has been successful in finding sponsors who make
annual contributions or sponsor individual concerts. The unpaid
administration is divided up between orchestra members.

Supported by a wide range of organisations
We are very grateful for the support provided to us by the Provincial
Insurance Company Trust for Bolton over a number of years.
Other organisations that have recently supported BSO include:

|
Attracting local and national attention
BSO has also been seeking funding both nationally and locally and
has been successful in being awarded grants from the following organisations:

|
Collaborating, supporting other charities
BSO has worked with a number of local and national charitable organisations
to stage fund raising events. Recent collaborations have included:

|
Engaging with the local community
A key feature of the organisation's work is engagement with the
community. In addition to working in partnership with Bolton Music
Service, a number of projects have been organised. Two examples
are:
The Lottery: Peer Gynt - 1998
In July 1998, BSO was involved in a National Lottery funded
project involving groups of Bolton primary school children
in which the children performed their own music inspired by
their study of the music played by the Orchestra. Supervised
by the pupils' teachers and professional advisory staff this
project and its concert was a splendid educational experience
for the children and an inspirational one for the orchestra.
Many of those who attended the concert were 'first-timers'
who we would hope were sufficiently impressed to return in
the future.
|
The Lottery: Henry V - 2002
In November 2002, BSO staged a National Lottery funded project
involving groups of Bolton senior school students in which
the local GCSE students studied Shakespeare's Henry V and
then attended a live performance of William Waltons
Henry V from his 1944 film score.
The project was supervised by professional advisory staff
and the concert was a fantastic educational experience for
the students and brought to life Shakespeare's wonderful play.
