2011 Concert Season

Artistic Director &
Principal Conductor:
Robert Chasey

Composer in Residence: Ivor Hodgson

Choral Director: John Powell

Leader: Helen Brackley Jones

open quoteDear Friends,

Welcome to another fabulous series of concerts with your own Bolton Symphony Orchestra. I could sum it up by calling it a season of Hodgson, Hollywood, Humour and Heldenleben! Our January concert is something we have wanted to do for some time – the epic world of film scores including our now famous Star Wars! Composer in Residence Ivor Hodgson’s clarinet concerto receives its world premiere with John Bradbury, Principal Clarinet of the BBC Philharmonic. "Bolton goes off the Rails" will show that classical music can be not just fun, but downright hysterical; and as for Heldenleben, only a very few non-professional groups could even contemplate playing this giant of the Strauss poems. All this plus Peter Dixon in Elgar and a concert of the most sublime music written in the 20th century adds up to a breathtaking season.

Please join us, discover and enjoy! close quote
